About
Sekan Media is the independent creative practice of Sekan, working across music, image, research and creative direction.
Based in Amsterdam and working between Europe and Southeast Asia, the practice develops commissioned and independent projects for cultural institutions, festivals, hospitality spaces and brands. The work spans creative and music direction, curation, photography, publishing, installations and physical experiences.
Research, archiving and cultural context sit at the centre of the practice. Through Jiwa Jiwa, a platform focused on music from the Indonesian archipelago and its diaspora, and Soundwriters, an ongoing research and publishing project, Sekan explores music, migration and memory through different media. This ongoing research also informs commissioned work, shaping how sound, image and story come together within each project.
